The San Antonio Industry Liaison Group (SAILG) held its organization meeting on October 22, 1997, over breakfast at what was then Shoney’s Restaurant by the airport on Loop 410. The initial announcement was sent to “San Antonio businesses who are responsible for their company’s Affirmative Action Program.” The organizers committed that members would “receive updates directly from the San Antonio OFCCP, information on the latest regulatory changes, and you will have the opportunity to network with others who handle affirmative action for their company”. Through the years the SAILG has remained true to its original mission statement.
Today SAILG offers a forum to strengthen working relationships between federal contractors and government agencies such as the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and to encourage open communication and education between these groups.
